Juliana Marins’s father, Manoel Marins Filho, spoke for the first time after his daughter’s death on Tuesday night (24).
In a post on Instagram with her daughter’s photo, Manoel wrote the lyrics of the song “Piece de Me”, by Chico Buarque in the caption. In the photo, he highlighted the phrase “Piece taken from me”.
Manoel traveled to Indonesia to closely follow the search. He left Lisbon to Bali, on a trip of about 10 hours, and posted a video before boarding. In the recording, he thanked the support received and asked for prayers:
“We are now embarking on Bali. Thank God things are happening. I want to ask you to pursue Juliana’s ransom, that she is fine and can go back with us. Pray for Juliana. Thanks for everything.”
A day earlier, Manoel posted a video thanking the support received, emphasizing the assistance of the Brazilian embassy and thanking President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva for his diplomatic support.
Understand the case
Juliana Marins, 24, born in Niterói (RJ), was after spending four days isolated at the Rinjani volcano on Lombok Island, Indonesia. The young woman had been traveling through Asia since February and had already passed Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
The accident happened last Friday (20), when Juliana slipped and fell about 300 meters off the trail. Tourists who witnessed the fall alerted the family through social networks, sending photos, videos and the exact location of the incident.
Since then, there has been a great mobilization on social networks, with campaigns asking for help from Indonesian and Brazilian authorities. Despite efforts, she was located lifeless after four days of intense searches.
Body recovery
Juliana’s body, at local time, as reported by the search and rescue assistance team. The rescue is scheduled for 6 am, depending on adverse weather conditions and low visibility in the area.
After being lifted, the body will be transported to the Sembalun post and then taken to Bayangkara Hospital. “We hope that the victim’s evacuation process can go without problems and safely, as we all expect,” said the rescuers.
