United States President Donald Trump made a comparison on Wednesday among his attacks on Iran over the weekend and the use of US nuclear bombs in Japan, claiming that both were used to successfully end wars.
“I don’t want to use Hiroshima’s example. I don’t want to use Nagasaki’s example, but it was essentially the same thing that ended that war,” Trump said in a Netherland Otan summit. “This ended that war. If we had not eliminated this, they would be fighting now,” he continued.
The comments were made while Trump talked about the importance of, which, he said, delayed the Iranian nuclear program in decades.
“I don’t think they’ll do it again,” Trump said about Iran’s nuclear ambition. “They just have gone through hell. I think it’s enough. The last thing they want is to get rich.”
He said he awaits Israel’s report on them, which he said would justify his allegations of “total erasure.”
