Cristiano Ronaldo signed a two-year contract extension with Al-Nassr, said the Saudi Football League club on Thursday (26), which will keep the Portuguese striker in the team after turning 42.

“A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together,” Ronaldo said in a post on social network X.

The ace has been in Al-Nassr since the end of 2022, when he left Manchester United and signed a two and a half year-old bond after the Qatar World Cup.

This made him the best paid athlete in the world, and he has been leading this list for three consecutive years, according to Forbes.

At 40, Ronaldo’s estimated total gain is about $ 275 million.

In total, he scored 93 goals in 105 matches with the team’s shirt.

The player demonstrates few signs of slowdown, leading Portugal towards the second title of the UEFA League this month by beating neighboring Spain in the final.

Ronaldo also aims at the 1,000 goal mark in his career. He has scored 794 goals in club football and 138 for the Portuguese team, totaling 932.

His arrival in Saudi Arabia paved the way for several prominent players who played in Europe to migrate to the Saudi League, such as his former Real Madrid partner Karim Benzema.

Although Ronaldo won the Arab Champions Cup with Al Nassr, he has not yet been able to take the team to the National League title, with the best result the runner-up in 2022-23 and 2023-24. The club ended last season in third place.
