In defeat to the government, House overturns IOF increase

The House of Representatives overturned the decree that increased the tax on financial operations with a project of legislative decree that the PDL now goes to the Senate, where the intention is that the bill will be appreciated on Wednesday (25). The score was 383 to 98 votes.

This was a joint dialogue with the senators so that this also passes by the Federal Senate.

The proposal goes to the Senate and, if the decision of the House is confirmed, the government predicts that it will lose R $ 10 billion in revenue this year.

The increase in IOF displeased parliamentarians and financial market agents. The government then went back to some points and proposed alternatives.

On the 8th, Minister Haddad even announced an agreement with Congress to soften the increase in IOF and discuss structural measures to cut spending, but everything changed shortly thereafter.
