Iran’s Foreign Ministry refused to confirm whether the Iranian and American delegations will meet next week, as suggested by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (25).

“We have nothing to say about US contradictory statements about diplomacy and negotiations,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei, at a news conference in Tehran on Thursday (26).

“We need to ensure that the parts are serious or if this is just another tactic to sow discord in the region and in my country.”

Bagaei claimed that there were many contradictions from American authorities.

“As they argued diplomacy, just two days before our mascate meeting, they gave Israel’s green signal to attack Iran. So there is still some confidence?” He said.

On Wednesday, to discuss a possible nuclear agreement, although he repeatedly claimed that he does not believe that such agreement is so necessary.

“Let’s talk to them next week, Iran. We can sign an agreement, I don’t know. For me, I don’t think it’s so necessary. I mean, they have had a war, they have fought and now they are coming back to their world. I don’t care if I have a deal or not,” said the press conference at the end of the NATO summit.

“The only thing we would be asking is what we asked before,” Trump said, adding that he doesn’t believe that such agreement is necessary due to his insistence that the US, despite the first intelligence evaluations suggest the opposite.

Trump stated that the Iran’s nuclear program was destroyed.
