The Polish boss of diplomacy described the NATO summit as an important step in defense against Russia and highlighted support from the US and the consensus of European states.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in a Thursday interview for PAP, DPA and AFP described this week’s NATO summit in Hague as successful and emphasized that Russia was described in a statement as a long -term threat. He also emphasized the Allies’ agreement to increase the defense spending and the cooperation of the government with President Andrzej Dudo, which he described as a joint success. Sikorski pointed out that Russian President Vladimir Putin “walks on Brezhnev’s journey” as he wonders a costly war and forces the West to increase defense spending. He recalled that a similar overload of the Soviet Union led to its disintegration. The head of Polish diplomacy appreciated the US and President Donald Trump’s position, who he believes understands that Russia does not want to end the war in Ukraine. He expressed the belief that increasing expenditure by Europe was satisfactory for Trump.
He also appreciated the role of the US in the release of prisoners in Belarus and stressed that Poland depends on the liberation of all political prisoners, especially the Belarusian-Polish journalist Andrzej Pcobut.
The Minister also confirmed his willingness to cooperate with the newly elected Polish President Karol Nawrocký. According to him, there is a consensus on Ukraine.
