The board of Santos, led by soccer executive Alexandre Mattos, traveled as a strategy the recovery of the confidence of the cast players. More than strengthening the team with new punctual hiring, the alvinegra summit understands that it is necessary to rescue athletes who are already part of the pocket.
There is an internal understanding that some players hired in the first transfers window of the year have not yet reached their best level, either for adaptation or natural oscillations, and that they have potential (“ceiling”) to contribute more to the team led by Cléber Xavier.
There are also cases of athletes with more time of home that do not live a good time, such as João Schmidt, Diego Pituca and Guilherme.
“The main thing is human management, we needed to rescue the confidence of athletes, employees. The first thing is to understand the grandeur of Santos. It is to change the mindset, understanding where we are,” Mattos told last Wednesday (25), at a news conference.
“Santos has already hired and we have an obligation to make them work. The time is to rescue these hires, the players who are dedicating themselves,” added the leader.
In the first window of the year, Santos hired nine players who still remain in the cast: Luisão, Zé Ivaldo, Thaciano, Leo Godoy, Tiquinho Soares, Zé Rafael, Alvaro Barreal, Rolheiser and Deivid Washington.
Regarding new movements in the market, the fish sent the arrivals of Igor Vinicius and, which should be announced in the coming days. The board also monitors offensive options, especially to act on the tips.
Santos returns to the field on July 16, against the 14th round of Serie A. The match against Palmeiras, valid for the 13th round, has been postponed and has no date set yet.
