Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected Friday claims that army commanders had ordered the soldiers to shoot at the Palestinians who are trying to get to the humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli daily Haarec, referring to unnamed members of the Israeli army, reported that commanders ordered the units to shoot at the crowds near the aid distribution centers to get them, even if these people would not pose a threat. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.
Netanyahu described the reports of the diary as “mischievous lies”
In recent weeks, witnesses and Gazan officials have repeatedly reported incidents with victims of lives near the centers of humanitarian aid in Palestinian territory, where Israeli troops are fighting the militant Hamas movement.
Haarec informed on Friday that the General Prosecutor General of Israel had ordered the investigation to investigate “expected military crimes” at the distribution centers. The Israeli army refused to answer AFP questions about the aforementioned statement.
Netanyahu in a joint statement with the Israeli Defense Minister, Jisrael Kaco, “absolutely refused this contemptible accusation” and “malicious lies” in the Haarec daily. “Soldiers (Israeli army) have received clear orders to avoid hurting the innocent – and operated in accordance with it,” Kac and Netanyahu added.
More than 500 people have died from the end of May near distribution centers
In a special statement, the army stated that “its forces did not give instructions to deliberately shoot at civilians, including those approaching distribution centers”. She added that the directives of the Israeli army prohibit deliberate attacks on civilians.
After more than 20 months of war in the Gaza Humanity groups, the Palestinian Enclave population – more than two million people – is at risk of famine.
The Gazan Ministry of Health claims that more than 500 people have died near the distribution centers from the end of May. These deaths are associated with the new distribution system of the United States and Israel -supported humanitarian foundation for Gaza (GHF). This private group, with which the UN and large humanitarian organizations refused to cooperate, rejects that fatal incidents would take place in close proximity to its distribution centers.
