Credit stock rises 0.6% in May, says BC

Brazil’s credit stock rose from R $ 6.615 trillion in April to R $ 6.653 trillion in May. The rise was 0.6%. (Central Bank) released the report “Monetary and Credit Statistics” this Friday (27.jun.2025). This is the report (PDF – 363 kb).

The balance increased 3% in the year until May and 11.8% in 12 months. The Central Bank growth of 8.5% in credit stock in 2025.

The credit balance refers to the total stock of loans and financing granted by financial institutions, such as banks, cooperatives and others. It corresponds to the volume not yet paid for contracts and includes credit to companies, such as working capital, and families, such as credit card revolving and other modalities.

Credit stock increased 0.7% in May compared to April for operations with targeted resources – those that are subsidized by governments or state. Rose 0.5% for free resources operations – negotiated in the market.

Credit stock for individuals increased 0.4% in May compared to April. Advanced 0.8% for legal entity.
