Cities and villages that are on the sidelines along the large river near the Guangxi region of southern China were hit by heavy floods on Thursday (26).
At least 6 people died from the floods, which anticipate the arrival of a tropical cyclone, said Chinese state media Xinhua.
On the morning of Tuesday (24), the floods had already hit two cities of Guizhou, and ended up spread to other parts of southwest, such as Chongqing, Yunnan and Sichuan.
Even after the floods, southwest of China remained in for secondary disasters, such as road collapses, landslides and hydroelectric dam overflows. Cleaning efforts are underway.
Extreme storms and severe flooding, which meteorologists associate with climate change, are increasingly challenges for the Chinese authorities, as they threaten to overload former flood defenses, displace millions of people and cause billions of dollars in economic losses.
