The prices have broken their bearish trend and in June a rise of 2.2%, two tenths more than the result recorded in May for tensions in energy markets have been pointed out. The underlying inflation, which does not take into account the products and services with more volatile prices, such as fresh foods and energy, also stood at 2.2%, the same percentage that had already registered in May, according to the indicator advanced this Friday by the National Statistics Institute this Friday.

In May, inflation had been 2%, its lowest value since October 2024 (1.8%). The percentage is in line with the objective of the European Central Bank (ECB) and meant chaining three months of interannual declines. The reduction was due, above all, to the lowering of tourist packages, including air transport and passengers, in addition to a moderation in the cost of electricity, which became less expensive in May with respect to the same month last year, despite the energy tensions caused by the blackout of April 28.

In the rest of Europe the snapshot is similar. The CPI fell to 1.9% in May and gave the ECB to deepen its type cuts. The institution reduced the cost of money for the seventh consecutive time at the beginning of this month, leaving it in 2%, the lowest level since December 2022.
