MLS (Major League Soccer, the United States Football League) postponed the Inter Miami game against Atlanta United, initially scheduled for this Saturday (28). The pink shirt team is focused on a more important duel, valid for the round of 16 of the Club World Cup, on Sunday (29), at Mercedez Benz Stadium, in Atlanta, against Paris Saint-Germain.
Surprised by the arrival of one of its teams to the second phase of the World Cup, the US League had to adjust its calendar. And he created inconvenience for those who had been programmed to honor what became a Florida tourist attraction: Lionel Messi on the field at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on the outskirts of Miami.
Until the early evening of Wednesday (25), when finally the schedule on the cover of its site was changed, Inter Miami continued to show the official schedule with a game on Saturday and one on Sunday, with an interval of just 14:30.
The ticket policy does not provide for the return of payment. In the statement of the postponement of the match, the club only warned that the entries purchased in advance came to be valid for the new date.
On Inter Miami’s sales platform, prices of a single ticket for the game against Atlanta United range from $ 46, behind the goals, to $ 788 ($ 4,345), in midfielder side chairs.
The values, higher than those practiced before Messi’s arrival, are the result of a policy adopted in the club’s expansion project, which began in the middle of 2023, at the time of hiring the ace. This project provides for the inauguration of a new stadium and the renewal of the Argentine bond.
According to US newspapers, a clause in the Lionel reserve agreement the option of becoming one of the club’s owners, alongside former English player David Beckham and brothers Jorge and Jose, businessmen.
Inter Miami’s target audience has become a larger purchasing power. They are spectators called pejoratively “Messi fans” in the club’s forums on the internet.
Five groups of organized fans are officially recognized by Inter: The Siege, Vice City 1896, Southern Legion, Nacion Rosa Y Negro and IMS.MMXX. They all sing their songs in Spanish and follow the aesthetics of the South American organized.
Many of these older fans, who have supported the team since their debut at MLS in 2020, are disappointed by the new directions. Even with the good results presented, Messi is still malicious by some sectors, especially among those who refer to themselves as “true Miami fans.”
For the board, it doesn’t matter if your consumer knows the rule of impediment in football or if he is hunting selfies. Inter’s growth project needs to continue and, so far, it has been a success.
The next step will be the inauguration in 2026 of Miami Freedom Park, a stadium for 25,000 people in Miami. The team will leave Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, which still reserves part of their 21,500 places to cheaper tickets in an unintended sector.
