A “unfortunate” failure in the program used by students to perform the tests in digital format is behind the annulment of a question of national examination.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation today has made a positive balance of the two final events of the 9th grade – Mathematics and Portuguese – which took place for the first time in digital format.
“Globally, these tests have taken place with normally and tranquility, and only punctual failures were recorded that schools knew how to solve at the moment and without impact on the tests,” writes the meci press office.
Among the problems detected was athe failure on the Iave platform during the math testwhich took the guardianship to nullify item 2, which has a weight of five points in 100, to ensure equity and that “no student is impaired in their final classification.”
“The item in question required an association of three elements of a column with elements of a second column. It was not a widespread problem, Some students were technically prevented from at that time to complete this item 2-It was possible to complete it later. Only 4% of students – including those who have specific educational needs – has considered their tests over 120 minutes, enjoying supplementary time as expected, ”explains Meci.
In addition to this problem, the ministry also reveals that at the end of the test “the sharing of statement items” was recorded, and the guardianship wanted to keep the utterances secret to replicate the tests in the following years in order to make a real comparison of students’ evolution over time.
“The situation verified is unfortunate, But it has no impact on this year’s test, or student results. It will only take effect on the preparation of the next school year, ”explains the ministry.
The final tests of basic education were held this year, for the first time, in digital format.
According to Meci, on June 25, 97,352 Portuguese tests were held, “which corresponds to 99% of the expected tests”, with 99% of the students started the tests at the time and “only 2% of students exceeded 120 minutes of test, enjoying the supplementary time as planned”.
Five days earlier, on June 20, 97,450 students took the math exam, corresponding to 99% of the total expected tests and 97% began in the scheduled time, according to the tutelage data.
The Ministry recalls that for the execution of evidence in digital support four inquiries with the directorsto identify and report the needs.
“A total of 15.4 million euros were allocated to schools, to overcome difficulties and ensure all the conditions for the tests to take place within normal and with all the tranquility,” adds the press office.
MECI also authorized the hiring 27 technicians specializing in computer networks By the 27 unloved school groups or schools that, in May, in the last inquiry, signaled this need.
“These technicians were in schools to accompany and solve any technical problems on the days when the final tests of the 9th grade are held,” reads the note.
