The prosecutor’s office oppose the Prime Minister’s request for two -week interruption in his, citing the slow pace of his deposition and the forthcoming summer interruption, while earlier he demanded, in his statements, the cancellation of the trial.
National Issues Claims Netanyahu
Netanyahu’s defense lawyer Amit Handad had stated that the prime minister needed the interruption to devote himself to “diplomatic, national and first priority security issues” after the recent war with, ending Tuesday.
According to Hadad, these issues include “managing war in and tackling hostage issues”.
‘Netanyahu’s objections are not sufficient’
In its answer, the Public Prosecutor’s Office states that “the general reasons listed in the request are not sufficient to cancel two weeks of meetings, especially in view of the forthcoming interruption”.
He also notes that adjustments have already been made to facilitate Netanyahu’s obligations, allowing him to deposit twice a week instead of three.
“The prosecutor’s office, therefore, opposes the request,” he adds.
The Regional Court is now called upon to make a decision on the matter.
Trump intervention
The two -week interruption was submitted a few hours after the former president demanded the cancellation of the Israeli prime minister, describing it as “witch hunting against his great Prime Minister of War”.
Three cases of corruption
Netanyahu is being tried for three corruption cases, facing charges of bribery, fraud and abuse of trust.
It denies any illegal action and claims that the charges are constructed, in the context of a political conspiracy led by the Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
