The governor of Paraná ,. (PSD), decided to terminate the state government contract with EBC (Brazil Communication Company) to invest in its own broadcaster, while trying to make a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic to run for (PT) in 2026.
In a notification sent on Friday (27) to the Federal Government, the Secretary of Communication of the State, Cleber Mata, justifies that tourism in the state has been the fastest growing in the country and adds that, with this, there was a need to expand the investments of TV Paraná Turismo, including to reach audiences from other states.
EBC, a public broadcasting company, is responsible for TV Brasil, seen around Lula as one of the platforms for the president. With the breakup, it will no longer be transmitted in Paraná.
In the document, the Paraná government claims to be a friendly termination and thanks for the partnership. The contract requires the termination by either party to be communicated at least 30 days in advance.
“A year ago TV Paraná Turismo was transmitted to all of Brazil through the band KU and the signal was enhanced by the purchase of seven new transmitters. With this, TV Paraná Turismo is structured to increase its own programming with programs that illustrate the growth of state tourism,” says an excerpt from the notification.
Ratinho Jr. is the son of presenter Carlos Roberto Massa, who owns the Massa group, including several TV and radio stations. The relationship between father and son has been more explored by the governor while trying to cling to presidential election next year.
