Intense rains and floods destroyed some houses after the banks of a river in apartades, Venezuela, they overflowed.
The heavy rains increased the flow of the river in the state of Merida, Venezuela, causing floods that affected more than 270 families, according to the state government.
Many residents reported having lost their belongings on floods.
“It took my whole house. I couldn’t recover anything,” said Jorge Luis Rivas with tears in his eyes. “Thank God, my guardian angel told me to return home. That’s what I did, I saved my family that was sleeping inside my house,” he added.
He activated a special response plan, providing medical attention, food and supplies. No death has been reported so far.
Other Andin Zone states affected by the include Táchira, Barinas and Trujillo.
