Minister Nunes Marques of the Supreme Court (STF) determined the removal of two mayors from Bahia suspected of misappropriation of parliamentary amendments in the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Cautiously removed from their functions the mayors of the Bahian municipalities of Ibipitanga, Humberto Raimundo Rodrigues de Oliveiraand from Boquira, Alan Machado.
The target of a break of telephone secrecy and searches are made at addresses linked to one of its advisers, Marcelo Chaves Gomes. Another search target is the former mayor of Paratinga (BA), Marcel José Carneiro de Carvalho.
The Federal Police (PF), the Federal Revenue (RFB) and the Union Comptroller General (CGU) participate in the fourth phase of Operation Overclean, which aims at a criminal organization suspected of involvement in bidding fraud, misappropriation of public resources from parliamentary amendments, corruption and money laundering.
In all, 16 search and seizure warrants are fulfilled and three precautionary departure orders from public servants.
According to the PF, the “investigated nucleus is suspected of acting on the release of parliamentary amendments to the Bahian municipalities of Boquira, Ibipitanga and Paratinga, from 2021 to 2024, upon payment of improper advantage, in addition to acting on the manipulation of bidding procedures”.

Crimes
Targets are investigated for crimes of criminal organization, active and passive corruption, embezzlement, bid fraud and administrative contracts and money laundering.

The fourth phase of Operation Overclean was triggered on the same day that the Federal Supreme Court (STF) holds a public hearing on the constitutionality of tax amendments to the budget, those of compulsory execution by the government.

The hearing was called by Minister Flávio Dino, rapporteur of three actions that question the imposing amendments. Senate Presidents David Alcolumbre (Union-AP), and House, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), are planned among the speakers.
