With the inauguration of a Diagnostic Center of the Unified Health System (SUS) in partnership with the National Cancer Institute (INCA) and the AC Camargo Hospital, in São Paulo, the public system could perform 400,000 tests per year, analyzing samples for cancer. The disease reaches about 700,000 people a year in the country.
The center was inaugurated as part of the program Now there are specialistsfrom the Ministry of Health, and will receive a contribution of R $ 126 million. Named Super Center for Cancer Diagnosis, it focuses on telemedicine and the ability to perform up to a thousand reports a day, reducing the report time from 25 to 5 days, which is expected to decrease the time for diagnosis and start of treatment.

During the launch, this afternoon, in São Paulo, the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, recalled that the Instituto do Heart (Incor) has already done the service by medical experts at a distance. According to him, teleconsulture can reduce lines by cardiac care by up to 70%.
“This unburden, takes care quickly for those waiting and optimizes the use of available experts in the country,” said Padilha.
This Friday, the minister followed the simulation of a telepathology diagnosis at Accamargo Cancer Center, which joined the Program for the Support of Institutional Development of the Unified Health System (Proadi-SUS). Specializing in distance diagnosis, the institution will share its expertise with SUS, serving units from all over the country.
According to the folder, SUS is still responsible for biopsy material collection procedures. From there, samples can take two paths to diagnosis: specialized or digitized transport logistics and transmitted remotely to the center by public hospitals, initially 20 pole units that will receive training from AC Camargo.
Then, the hospital will offer telelaudo for live diagnostic conference and a second opinion, which may be requested to confirm the diagnosis, clarify doubts and support in the therapeutic decision.
Also in agenda in the state capital, Padilha announced a transfer of R $ 8.2 million to the São Paulo State Cancer Institute (Icesp) to buy a linear accelerator, cancer treatment equipment, as part of the financing of 121 new devices, part of the Radiotherapy Expansion Plan in SUS (Persus II), which will invest R $ 400 million to recompose the technological capacity of public network. Hospitals interested in participating should wait for the registrations, scheduled for July 14.
Still as part of the minister’s agenda was made an announcement of $ 12 million to expand care at the Heart Institute.
