Peonies are undoubtedly one of the most beautiful flowers in Polish gardens. Lush, large flowers decorate the space and please the eye. It is not surprising that every woman with her garden dreams that in the summer he covered herself with abundantly large, colorful buds of peonies. And although they are very demanding garden plants, they can repay the beautiful flowers every year for their hearts. Unfortunately, already in the second half of June or early July. They lose their colorful flowers. However, remember not to leave the bushes in your garden in this state, because the peonies after flowering require one very important care treatment, namely pruning. It is thanks to this that in a year they will have even twice as many flowers.
Pruning peonies after flowering. When and how to do it correctly?
PO begins to establish seeds, which significantly weakens them. It is very important to immediately remove dry flowers from the plants, thanks to which they will transfer all their energy to regeneration, expansion of the root system and strengthening before the next season. During this time, the key treatment in the care of peonies is their pruning, i.e. removing withered flowers. However, you should know how to do it properly so as not to damage our plant. All you have to do is remove the flower with a short fragment of the stem immediately when the petals begin to fall and get slipped. We cut it directly above the first healthy leaf with a clean, disinfected and above all a sharp pruning shears.
Peony care after flowering
After flowering, it is crucial for health and abundant flowering of peonies next year. After flowering, peonies need a fertilizer rich in phosphorus and potassium. You can use a special fertilizer for peonies or fertilizer for flowering plants. Do not forget about watering the teeth, because it is a plant that likes a damp ground.
