Houthis do Yemen claim to have released missile against Israel

Israeli government warned that it could impose naval and air blockade on Yemen if the attacks persist

This is the first release of missiles announced by the Houthis against Israel since the ceasefire that came into force on June 24

Yemen ‘rebels claimed to have fired a missile on Saturday, which according to Israeli forces was possibly intercepted. Several regions of Israel activated alert sirens, indicated the army, stating that “most likely the missile was successfully intercepted.” Huthis Military spokesman Yahya Saree announced in a statement the “firing of a ballistic missile against a sensitive target of the Israeli enemy in Beersheva (south), in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and in response to the crimes of the Zionist enemy against civilians in Gaza”.

This is the first release of missiles announced by the Houthis against Israel since the ceasefire that came into force on June 24, after 12 days of war, between Israel and Iran, ally of the Yemeni rebels. The Houthis, who control large parts of war, devastated by the war, have launched collections of missile and drone attacks against Israel since the beginning of the Gaza conflict, triggered by a Hamas attack on Israeli territory on October 7, 2023.
