Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) ordered last Tuesday, 25, the custody of the three convicted of the attempted explosion of a tanker truck in the Brasilia airport region.

The arrest of George Washington de Oliveira and Alan Diego dos Santos Rodrigues was converted from Semiaberta to closed, while Wellington Macedo de Souza is expected to continue in prison. The order was through a confidential petition, according to the Metrópoles newspaper. In the document, Moraes argues that the crimes are serious and the risk of new occurrence.

The attempted attack that the three convicts drove took place on December 24, 2022. The Bolsonarist militants tried to blow up the vehicle that carried 60,000 liters of aviation kerosene in the region of the Brazilian capital airport.

During the attacking rehearsal, George Washington was responsible for the bomb while Alan Diego dos Santos coupled the explosive to the tank truck. The vehicle should enter the airport and be detonated there. The pump did not explode because of a technical error.

On February 15, the Federal District Judiciary allowed George Washington de Oliveira Sousa to serve his sentence in a semi -open regime. At the time, Judge Bruno Aielo Macacari considered that the defendant met the requirements for the change of regime for not having committed disciplinary failures during the period in which he was arrested. The decision was now reversed by Moraes.
