Canadian hockey defender Matthew Schaefer was expected to become a unit of draft overseas hockey NHL. New York Islanders chose it from the first place on Saturday night. San Jose Sharks then touched the striker Michael Mis and Chicago Blackhawks chose the third position of the Swedish center of Anton Frondell. No Slovak hockey player passed the first round of this year’s draft.
Seventeen -year -old Schaefer was in the first position of almost all the pre -expensive charts. He spent the past two seasons in the Junior Ohl in the Erie Otters jersey, for which he played 73 duels and scored 39 points (10+29). He added three assists in six playoffs. Last year he had health problems, he played only 17 matches for Erie and scored 22 points for seven goals and 15 assists.
He was first eliminated by mononucleosis, then he was supposed to be a key support for the Canadian national team at the Junior World Championship, but in the second match he suffered a fracture of the clavicle. Schaefer has become only the fifth Bek since 2000, which is a draft unit.
