Scientists from the US National Aviation and Space Authority (NASA) have published a successful mineralogical analysis of the deeper layers of Mars. It was confirmed by clay minerals. The Kenmore Rock Sample on the planet was drilled by the Perseverance at the beginning of June, TASR writes about it according to NASA and SpaceDaily.com.
Geochemist Ken Farley from the Californian Institute of Technology described Kenmore rock as “strange, non -working rock”, which excessively vibrated and weathered fragments were released from it during the drilling. Perserverance was removed using a dust removal device (GDRT). Drill -drilled rock and possible pollution from the surface does not remove mechanically but “Blows” using nitrogen. This prevents sampling contamination and allows scientists to examine the original rocks.
