Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) thinks it is necessary to start a discussion on a change in legislation to the elections. According to him, it is necessary to discuss the increase in electoral deposit or the increase in quota to the entry of the parties to the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic to seven percent. He announced this in the program of Slovak Radio Saturday dialogues. He did so in connection with the statement of the leader of the coalition CIS Andrej Danko on the creation of a larger block block before the next parliamentary elections.
“It will be necessary to connect forces. We are all very, very far from what form it should take and what it will look like. I consider it to be a very proficient politician in terms of politics and political science, but at this point this topic is not on the table because we do not have the relevant legislative basis. Let’s first talk about whether we can raise the quorum to seven percent, whether we can introduce an election bail of € 500,000 that would prevent all sorts of fools and a half -crazy run for the National Council of the Slovak Republic”He said.
Fico reiterated that there are no hundred parties in Slovakia and 20 could not run for parliament. “Such a system is an obstacle to the development of the country,” noted. He intends that on the principle of democratic free parliamentary elections, a government political representation should be chosen so that it will consist of perhaps two blocks or one strong block. “However, we cannot stick those coalitions that can then not live and cause more beams than the benefit of the whole country,” added.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the government’s draft amendment to the Constitution of the Slovak Republic, which MEPs should vote in September. According to him, he will be tight. He himself does not plan to enter into negotiations on support. However, he is optimistic in his own words. The Smer-SD parliamentary club is uniform when supporting the proposal. “I can’t, of course, blame anyone. This is a challenging topic for some people. We are clear about it in the direction-SD,” stated.
He also outlined the topic of safety systems. According to him, every country has the right to decide in which security system it wants to work. He thinks that it is also necessary to think about other variants of the future. “This is not a religion to be in NATO or be in the European Union there is no religion. It has huge benefits for collective security, but we have the right to a critical voice,” argued.
He also evaluated President Petr Pellegrini. He intends that if the head of state continues to lead the leadership as before, In the future presidential elections, it will again find support among voters who also chose it for the first time. At the same time, he noted that Smer-SD has a positive approach to the President.
