A ceremony was held on Saturday (28) in, to pay tribute to the victims of a tragic balloon accident. The incident, which occurred on the 21st of the same month, resulted in the deaths of eight people. The tribute was organized by the Balloon Pilots and Companies Association (Avibaq) and was attended by a pastor, who offered words of comfort to family members and friends of the victims. The accident involved a hot air balloon that carried 21 people during a tourist flight. Along the way, the balloon caught fire, leading the pilot to make the decision to make an emergency descent. This action allowed 12 occupants to jump before the situation became critical. However, weight reduction was not sufficient to avoid tragedy.
After the emergency descent, the balloon, still on fire, gained altitude again, which culminated in the death of the eight passengers who could not escape. The tragedy shocked the local community and raised security questions on balloon flights, especially in emergency situations. During the ceremony, the participants released eight white balloons, each representing one of the victims of the accident.
