With the extension of the contract, the Austria GP joins the Miami GP as the only events of F-1 assured until the 2040s. Earlier this month, the Canada GP was extended until 2035 – Sao Paulo, in Brazil, is guaranteed until 2030. Bahrain and Australia are the other long -term headquarters for more than ten years. “Austria has been an incredibly special race for Formula 1, so it is fantastic to guarantee the long-term future of such a profoundly rooted prize in the history of the sport,” said Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1. Austria GP is linked to the presence of Red Bull in F-1. The company’s co -founder, Dietrich Mateschitz, killed in 2022, financed the reforms that allowed his return to the calendar in 2014, after an absence of 11 years, and renamed him as Red Bull Ring. “I am very happy that Formula 1 will remain in Red Bull Ring for many years,” his son Mark Mateschitz said on Sunday in a statement.
“I am proud to continue my father’s legacy and preserve the rich history of motor racing in the styure (state of Austria), Red Bull Ring and, above all, for the people of the region. The narrow ties of Austria with Formula 1 are an excellent basis for our long -term partnership,” said Mateschitz. The Austria GP was first played in 1964 and was present at the World Cup on 37 opportunities. Red Bull Ring, the current circuit, hosted the event for the first time in 1970 and offers one of the most charming scenarios, in the mountains of Styria, with pilots traveling the 4.3 km circuit known for their elevation changes and the combination of high and low -speed curves that encourage wheel wheel. The circuit left the calendar in 2004, but returned ten years later, after renovations that revitalized the facilities. Interestingly, a home team driver Max Verstappen is the track record holder with five.
