A way to wash towels so that they remain soft for years. The secret of the neighbor’s Filomena
This is not such a simple matter at all. Contrary to appearances, towels perform an important function in hygiene. Due to frequent contact with the epidermis and moisture, they can be a habitat of bacteria and germs. Waying dirty towels can cause allergies and inflammation of the skin. Frequent laundry, however, does not have a positive effect on the technical condition of fabrics. They become stiff, unpleasant to the touch, and also less absorbent. Washing towels should take place at the highest possible temperature. Experts recommend a temperature from 40 to 60 degrees Celsius. Rinsing fluids are not recommended for washing towels. They can stick fabric fibers by reducing their absorbency and softness. Then what to use alternatively to wash towels to get rid of musty smells?
Bacteria are largely responsible for a large extent. The secret to fragrant and soft towels is the right washing. My neighbor has always said that towels are best to wash with the addition of vinegar and citric acid. This is a former method that makes the washing towels smell and do not become stiff. Pour half a glass of vinegar into the chamber for rinsing liquid, and pour half a glass of citric acid directly into the washing machine drum. Thanks to this, both of these funds will work at a different stage of washing. Both vinegar and citric acid soften fabrics and remove ugly smells. Lashed towels in this way will be as new for a long time. Remember, however, that neither vinegar nor citric acid will cope with large dirt. Classic detergents will be necessary for greasy spots.
You can also use citric acid for soaking. Before the first washing, put the towels in the bathtub, pour water and pour in one lemon acid pack. Mix the whole thoroughly and leave for 2 hours. Citric acid will soften fabrics and improve their absorbency.
