The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has no military solution. It is necessary to return to compliance with international law and to look for communication with the Russian Federation. In the Sunday discussion session of the QU it was announced by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD). According to him, the conflict can only be resolved by a peaceful way. Vice -President of the Foreign Parliamentary Committee and PS Vice -President Tomáš Valášek warned that the opening of negotiations with Russia will not end the war.
“Our approach is such that it is necessary to prevent conflicts of diplomatic solutions and compliance with international law,” said Blanár. He pointed out that we are currently witnessing the erosion of international law, not only in the case of Ukraine, but also in the conflict between Israel and Iraq. “Let’s go back to complying with international law and let’s also look for communication with the Russian Federation,” declared.
Valášek reiterated that Russia is not interested in peace. According to him, the conflict would have been terminated long ago. “If Russia is successful on the battlefield, it will not negotiate, will continue to kill, rape and carry children, for what, by the way, Vladimir Putin is the defendant and sought by international courts. All that stops him is when he finds he found that he has no longer a chance to move on the battlefield,” He added that Putin would then be ready to negotiate.
