The data show that Brazil exported a total of 21.25 million tons of soy to China in the first 5 months of 2025

Brazil exported 12.11 million tons of soy to China in May. The value represents an annual increase of 37.5%, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs of China.

According to the analysis of APPLA (National Association of Cereal Exporters) of Brazil, the demand of the Chinese market has returned to stable, which reflects the trend of Chinese companies to acquire the South America crop.

In addition, favorable weather conditions in the main producing regions of Brazil contributed to a high offer and competitive prices of Brazilian soy, which attracted large volume of orders from Chinese buyers.

The data show that Brazil exported a total of 21.25 million tons of soy to China in the first 5 months of this year – a 14% drop in the same period as 2024.

However, exports recovered strongly in May, driven mainly mainly by the gradual submission of previously postponed shipments for climate reasons. In addition, the concentrated arrival of previously dammed loads was one of the reasons for the significant increase in Chinese imports during the month.

Experts in the sector say that with the improvement in customs efficiency of Chinese ports – the largest world importer of soy – and the resumption of the operation of some overwhelming in the country, Brazilian exports to China have increased expressively. In May, China imported a record volume of 13.92 million tons of soy.

The expectation of experts is that, with the concentrated boarding of Brazilian soy, the rhythm of exports remains strong in the third quarter. In the coming months, soy trade between Brazil and China is expected to stay up.
