Each gardener dreams of lush blooming hydrangeas. In order for them to delight with their charm, we must provide them with adequate cultivation conditions. It is worth watering them with a nettle manure. It is thanks to this plant that we can be sure that they will begin to bloom like crazy.
We plant hydrangeas on a semi -shaded or completely shady position. In full sun, they can be burned. It is best to choose acidic or slightly acidic pH of 4.5 to 6.5 for these plants. The soil should be quite light, permeable and fertile.
Regular watering is an important procedure for these specimensespecially during prolonged drought. Irrigation should be systematic, but not very abundant – hydrangeas do not tolerate excess moisture. Let’s water them in the morning or evening, being careful not to soak the leaves.
These plants also require removing dry shoots. It is worth making a rejuvenating cutting cut. In the event of freezing, we also get rid of damaged branches.

Hydrangeas for abundant flowering need minerals, i.e. nitrogen improving the growth of shoots, phosphorus strengthening the root system and contributing to flowering and potassium, which increases the resistance and life of flowers.
These three important minerals contain a nettle manure. In addition, it provides plants with organic acids supporting their metabolism and other valuable ingredients: iron, calcium, magnesium and manganese. They are responsible for the coloring of leaves and flowers.
As a result, the mass of green hydrangea increases and the development of flower buds is stimulated. Therefore, the bushes begin to bloom abundantly after the first fertilization.
This natural fertilizer also contains phenolic compounds and phytoncides with antibacterial and antifungal properties. Thanks to them, specimens are protected against gray mold and powdery mildew.
There is no doubt that store fertilizers should be replaced with a nettle manure. We use it 2-3 times a season, every 3-4 weeks, until the end of July. In August, we stop fertilizing so that the shoots manage to wooden before the arrival of winter.
What ingredients do we need to make a slurry with nettle? Here is a short list:
- 1 kg of fresh nettle leaves;
- 10 liters of protruding water or rainwater.
To make, at the beginning we throw the nettles into a plastic or stoneware dish. Then pour them with water and cover with a gauze or a lid so that they have access to air.
Leave the whole thing for 5-7 days in a warm place. We mix the solution every day. After fermentation, strain the slurry, mix it with water in a 1:10 ratio and water it with this form with hydrangeas.
