Several people have been injured during the serious disturbances starring protesters and police after the demonstrations for and against the Government also coinciding with the anniversary of the battle of Kosovo of 1389, one of the foundational facts of the nationalism of that country.
The concentrations in the Slava square and together with the Serbian Parliament have ended with confrontations and police charges that have been paid for the moment with a serious injury.
Interior Minister, Ivica Dadic, has condemned “the brutal attacks against police officers by protesters of a concentration not registered in Eslava Slap,” according to Serbia public television, RTS. “The Police will take all the necessary measures to restore public order and peace, repel all attacks and stop all those who have attacked the police,” he added.
The protesters have returned to take the streets to protest against corruption and against the government, manifestations that began after the collapse at the Novi Sad train station in which 15 people died. The opposition requires the call for early elections.
Before the riots, President Serbio, Aleksandar Vucic, had visited students concentrated in the Park of Los Pioneros and stressed that “students have won and barricades have lost.”
Vucic stated, thus, his “pride” for the mobilization of young people who “want to study.” “Not only because the blockages had three times less assistance than March 15, but because they trust their struggle, they trust justice, the truth, their ideals. There is nothing more solid than ideals,” he said.
