In addition to security challenges, it also brought long negotiations on salaries of school employees. For TASR he evaluated this Chairman of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers in Slovakia Pavel Ondek.

“There was a period when security issues had to be addressed in schools that were also associated with a mental burden not only of pupils, their parents, but also the school and teachers. Ondek said.

According to him, negotiations between the Ministry of Education, trade unionists, founders and other organizations on employees’ salaries in education were an important topic of the school year. “The questions concerning, for example, the higher -level collective agreement, were not solved as quickly as the employees expected. It was long for the signing of an agreement to adjust the benefits and the salary increase,” noted.

He recalled that the increase in employees’ salaries in education was finally approved by the government and parliament and the amendment of the Act was already signed by President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini. According to him, the increase did not reach the level that the trade unionists would consider ideal. “It was a compromise,” he added.

Among the positives was also the signature of the Memorandum of Cooperation and the Social Recovery, which was closed by the school unionists and the education sector. “An important thing is that it has been agreed to create a salary machine in education. It is already in the meeting stage, the first basics and suggestions of what it might look like is already. We have more than a year to achieve it in the satisfaction of all education employees,” noted. He also considers the creation of a separate table for non -teaching staff in education as a positive.
