The United States Senate approved, on Saturday night (28), local time, Trump’s taxpayer nicknamed “One Big Beautiful Bill” (a great and beautiful bill), in a crucial vote, 51 to 49, after a long discussion among the Republican leaders.

Trump’s party now needs to satisfy the numerous opponents who still require changes in the project. With the result, Republicans took an important step on Saturday night, although the future of the tax and spending cut measure is still in question, as other obstacles remain.

The 940 -page bill aims to reduce federal taxes and inject more money into Trump’s main priorities into immigration, borders, tax cuts and military issues, began after hours of delay.

The proposal would extend the 2017 tax cuts, which were Trump’s main legislative achievement during his first term as president. Apartisan analysts estimate that a version of the project would add trillions to.

In a social network publication, Trump said the vote was a “great victory”, and compliance with the senators who voted for the measure.

The schedule of the measurement is short. Trump demanded the signing of the bill on July 4, but the measure still needs to return to the House after the Senate approval.

Voting allows the Senate to start discussing Trump’s bill, preparing a final vote for its approval in that house on Monday.

Persuasion game

Vice President Jd Vance traveled to the Capitol on Saturday night to help the leader of the Senate, John Thune, convince those who were still on the defensive, including row republicans who demanded more changes in the bill.

Republican senators Thom Tillis and Rand Paul voted against the measure. Senator Ron Johnson initially voted against, but changed his vote after talking to the party leadership.

Thune, Vance and several republicans who were still defensive-Johnson, Mike Lee, Rick Scott and Cynthia Lummis-met in the leadership room before the final vote. All four ended up voting in favor of the measure.

At the beginning of the day, the Republican leaders managed to win the vote of Senator Lisa Murkowski. While seeking her vote, some provisions were added to the latest version of the bill that specifically benefited her state, Alaska. One of them expanded the value that a special group of whalers could deduce in supplies for whale hunting, a source told CNN.

Senate democrats are now forcing a delay to postpone Trump’s approval by the House, forcing employees to spend about 10 to 15 hours reading the entire project aloud. After reading, there would be a debate about the project, followed by a “range vote” before the vote on final approval.

Thune and his team had been pressing their members to align with Trump and White House authorities also pressing strongly the republicans who still resisted.

Trump met Scott and Johnson on Saturday, a few hours before Republican leaders expected to vote, according to Lee, Utah, a colleague near the two senators.

The president also talked to other critical senators, such as Josh Hawley of Missouri, who at the beginning of Saturday declared his support for the project. Kentucky Senator Paul, another critic of the bill, played Golf with Trump on Saturday morning, according to Graham.

On Saturday night, Trump turned to Truth Social to attack Tillis, saying that the senator of North Carolina “is making a big mistake.” The president added that he will meet with those seeking to launch primary challenges against Tillis “in the coming weeks.”
