Country will also have temperatures above 40 ° C in Lisbon and in the southern and interior regions, according to the forecast of the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA)
This Sunday will reach a maximum temperature of 44 ° C in the district of Beja, on the border with Extremadura and Andalusia (Spain), half the south of the country, except Faro, on red alert due to the heat wave. The country will also have temperatures above 40 ° C in Lisbon and in the southern and interior regions, according to the forecast of the Portuguese Institute of Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA). The Beja district will reach a maximum of 44 ° C, followed by Évora, with 43 ° C, and Portalegre, with 42 ° C, both on the border with the bearing, and Santarém, inside, with 42 ° C. Lisbon and Setúbal, both on the coast, should have maximum temperatures of 41 ° C. All of these areas have minimum temperatures of 20 ° C or more, with the district of the capital registering a minimum of 25 ° C.
Yesterday, Saturday, the IPMA placed these six districts and Castelo Branco, which also borders the star and will now have a maximum of 40 ° C. With the exception of Lisbon and Setúbal, where temperatures will go down tomorrow, the red warning for the heat will last in these areas of Portugal until Monday. The red alert is the most severe on the IPMA four -core scale and indicates a weather situation of extreme risk. Due to the heat wave, Portugal’s National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority issued a “very high to maximum” rural danger alert in the north and center of the country, and in the southern Algarve. In neighboring Spain, no region of the country is free from high temperatures on Sunday. Twelve regions are on orange alert, with higher incidence in areas of the southwest of the peninsula, according to the Spanish state agency of Meteorology (Aemet).
