The singer Charli xcx32, used social networks this Sunday (29) to counter the criticism about choosing to use autotune, audio effect that can correct vocal tuning and/ or create different effects on the voice.
In her X (former Twitter) account, she spoke especially about the negative comments at the Glastonbury festival show on Saturday night (28).
“The idea that singing with a deliberate autotune makes you a fraud or not having a traditional band suddenly means that you should not be a ‘real artist’ is like, the most boring opinion of all. Sorry, I fell asleep with it,” wrote the star.
Concluding, Charli said he prefers to continue with his art like that. “The best art is one that divides and confronts, and often evolves into a truly interesting culture, instead of being a kind of ok, easy to understand and half forgetable.”
The use of Autotune, in the most newly released tracks and at Charli XCX shows that the singer attributed in 2024 by launching “Brat”. The age of the album, very guided by the Disco Club style, is also marked by the presence of many synthesizers in the songs.
but to be honest… i enjoy the discourse. imo the best art is divisive and confrontational and often evolves into truly interesting culture rather than being like kind of ok, easily understood and sort of forgettable.
