A SGBH (State Grid Brazil Holding)-subsidiary of Chinese state-owned Grid Corporation-launched on Monday (30) the cornerstone-first step-of the construction of transmission line that will drain the electricity Produced in the Northeast, by wind, solar and hydroelectric plants to the Midwest.
About 12 million people are expected to benefit in various localities of the Midwest, such as Brasilia (DF).
Named “Ultra High Voltage Project in Northeast Brazil”, the initiative will connect the cities of Graça Aranha (MA) and Silvânia (GO), passing through Tocantins. About $ 23 billion will be invested.
The project consists of the construction of a 1,468 kilometers of Ultra -high voltage (800 kV) and two converting stations and alternating current support units, with a transmission capacity of 5 million kW.
SGBH estimates that the work will be completed in 2029, with a date of commencement of commercial operation in March 2030. The concession period is 30 years.
The launch event of the cornerstone recorded the presence of the Secretary of Energy Transition of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Gustavo Ataíde, the Special Secretary of the Civil House, Roberto Garibe, the Director General of the National Operator of the Electric System (ONS), Márcio Rea, the Goiás Governor, Goiás,
Daniel Vilela, and the president of State Grid Brazil Holding, Sun Tao.
