The White House said Monday that Washington is still in contact with Tehran, despite what President Donald Trump was said today, who said he was not talking to Iranian representatives after the American bombardment of Iranian nuclear facilities more than a week ago. “As I told you since this podium last week, the administration, and in particular our special envoy (for the Middle East), Steve Witkoff, have been in communication, both directly and indirectly, with the Iranians,” the White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, told the press conference. “That communication continues, but the president himself has not spoken directly with Iran, something that stood out in his statement in Truth (social),” Leavitt added in reference to the message written shortly before by the president. “I am not offering Iran anything, unlike Obama, who paid them billions of dollars under the stupid ‘Comprehensive Comprehensive Action Plan (JCPOA) aimed at a nuclear weapon’ (which I would have now expired!), I am not even talking to them since we totally destroy their nuclear facilities,” Trump wrote today.
