Cerdán arrives at the Supreme
The former PSOE organization secretary has reached 9.49 by taxi accompanied by his lawyer to declare as investigated before Judge Leopoldo Puente, who sees “consistent” indications of his participation in the supposed plot of public works award plot in exchange for commissions that had his epicenter in the Ministry of Transportation during the stage of José Luis Ábalos. It is the first time that Cerdán appears before the instructor since the Central Operating Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard delivered in the Supreme a report that has caused a political earthquake and has put the Government and the PSOE against the strings. According to this document, Cerdán acted as a “manager” of the bites of which, according to the indications, they benefited Ábalos and the one who was his advisor, Koldo García. The accusations will predictably ask the judge to impose precautionary measures to Cerdán. Ábalos and Koldo García have the passport withdrawn, they are prohibited from leaving Spain and must appear before the judge every 15 days.
In the scarce public demonstrations that he has made after revealing his alleged involvement, the former socialist leader assured that he is not recognized in the audios found by the UCO in Garcia’s house and that they collect recordings of conversations of this with Áballos and Cerdán in which they supposedly speak of payments in exchange for works awards. Those audios, which will focus much of this Monday’s interrogation, make up the bulk of the UCO report, which places Cerdán at the origin of the plot next to Koldo García. The agents suspect that both began to collaborate in 2015 in Navarra, when the first was a deputy of the Autonomous Parliament and the second, councilor of the municipality of Huarte. There, they allegedly forged a relationship with a former high position of acting in that community.
Although the Civil Guard has no details of the possible irregular income that Cerdán could receive at this stage, he considers that there are indications that there were. Among them, a conversation held between García and Ábalos on November 23, 2023 (when he was already out of the government) in which the former advisor said that Cerdán had received money from the owner of Servinabar: “[…] Santos has stayed with money that has done it in front of me […] And I can tell you a thousand things, win five hundred tickets that Gipuzkoa gave him [en referencia al empresario Joseba Antxon Alonso] And a thousand more things. ”
Of this and other indications, the agents conclude that Cerdán “had decision -making power” on the two key companies of the Navarra stage of the plot, Servinabar and Noran Coop, “for such relevant aspects as the execution of payments, supply of other services and goods by societies such as vehicles and telephones”. “And even the rent of a house in Madrid” for Santos by Servinabar. Cerdán will be asked this Monday for that rent and for the private contract found by the UCO at the home of the owner of this company, according to which the former socialist director bought 45% of the company in 2016 for 6,000 euros, an operation that he denies.
