The Ministry of Tourism and Sport (McRaš) of the Slovak Republic presented parts of the National Sports Project Generation Olymp. The project includes the establishment of the Olympic training centers at secondary sports schools as well as the reconstruction and modernization of gymnasiums and sports grounds in the areas of schools in small municipalities. The resort on the project cooperates with the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOŠV).
Rudolf Huliak (independent), State Secretary for Sport Ivana Šufliarská Libiaková and SOŠV President Anton Siekel informed at Monday’s press conference.
The Olympic Olympic Centers of the Olympic Preparation of Secondary Sports Schools are earmarked EUR 740,000 within the Olymp’s Generation project. The eight centers of the Olympic training, which will be in every regional city, is to ensure the centralization of the preparation of young talented athletes.
“The essence of activity is to give talented young athletes the best possible conditions for preparation. They will have paid accommodation, meals, health care, transport, sports grounds, regenerations and schools in cooperation with the associations will concentrate the best coaches to prepare them. Also, in addition to their sport, athletes will also be dual, ”said the State Secretary, saying that this part of the project will start from September this year.
As she said, as part of the next part of the project focused on the reconstruction and modernization of sports infrastructure in small municipalities will eventually allocate six million euros. The reason is that the department was up to 255 applications delivered to the municipal sport for municipalities within the call for a subsidy in the field of sport for municipalities.
“We decided to satisfy as many applicants as possible that this project will also leave the SOŠV, where all the applications that were accepted and successful will pass to the SOŠV,” she added. All municipalities that were not successful in the call will go to the counselor. Siekel assumes that all projects are at a stage that it will be important to distribute them as soon as possible to the recipients.
The project also includes support for collective sports, which have real potential to qualify for the Olympic Games in the near future. This year, according to the Ministry, funds of one million euros will be earmarked for volleyball, handball, basketball, water polo and floorball, which could reach the Olympic Games program in the near future.
Another priority is the support of the participation of Slovak athletes in the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan/Cortine Av Los Angeles. For winter sports and steam sports, according to the resort, EUR 1.685 million will be released, for summer sports and steam sports this year 1.2 million euros.
The Minister stressed that support for sports in the regions is important for the resort. Also in order to reconstruct the sports infrastructure in small municipalities.
“Let’s support talents, let’s support those who have a chance to get to the Olympics, but at the same time we will use their success to promote sport among young people. Subsequently, let us be ready to provide reconstructed and safe sports grounds especially in schools, especially in schools, because children spend the most time there. Let’s also offer the possibility of studying at the Secondary Sports School in the Olympic Centers System. These are the ideas that stood behind the national sports project, which we implement in cooperation with the SOŠV, ”added Huliak.
The National Sports Project Olymp will go from the state budget of 10,980,000 euros. The contribution will be provided by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic to the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee. This stems from the material approved by the government last week.
