José Sócrates will present, in Brussels, at the Court of Human Rights, a criminal complaint against the Portuguese State, regarding Operation Marquis, in which he is accused and has been going on for 14 years.
The former Prime Minister José Socrates This Tuesday, a European Court complaint presents this Tuesday against the Portuguese State.
Speaking to the Lusa Agency, José Sócrates said that a press conference for Brussels is planned, in which he will be accompanied by his lawyers, to publicly submit the complaint regarding the unfolding of all, which has the first trial session two days later, on Thursday in Lisbon.
The Central Court of Criminal Instruction (TCIC) ordered last 11 the trip to the judgment of former Prime Minister José Socrates and businessman Carlos Santos Silva for three capital bleaching crimes.
For the court, “there are consistent indications” that demonstrate that Carlos Santos Silva was the person appointed by José Sócrates ”to move the money between 2011 and 2014 for the accounts of the former Prime Minister.
This process was separated from Operation Marquis, and the judge is understood that, since the crimes in question are committed in co -authorship with defendants who are in the main proceedings of Operation Marquis, it should be attached to the trial that has start date scheduled for 3 July.
At the end of reading the instructional decision, Socrates’ lawyer, Pedro Delihe announced that he would advance with a resource for ask for “nullity by substantial change of facts ”.
For the defense of the former prime minister, who was not present at this session, the instruction of the case “was made based on a charge from which the defendants were never notified” and, therefore, must be considered null.
“This decision was made under protection of the Superior Council of the Judiciary and is therefore also invalid,” he added.
