Los Angeles, June 30 (TASR) – American officials have found the body of a shooter who probably founded a fire in a forest area in Idaho on Sunday, and subsequently shooting at intervening firefighters. The attacker shot two firefighters and injured another, TASR writes according to the AFP report and CNN.

The Sheriff of the Kootenai district Robert Norris said the firefighters were called to the Canfield Mountain Mountain Region at approximately 14.21 local time. After almost half an hour, firefighters announced that someone was shooting at them.

Approximately 300 security forces intervened in the popular tourist area. According to Norris, the shooter was hiding in rugged terrain and shooting a rifle. Norris said he had instructed the security forces to return the shooting.

They found the expected shooter together with the firearm after a few hours of searching dead. His body had to be quickly transported from the area where they found it because of the spreading fire.

“Based on the initial information, we believe that it was a single shooter,” Norris said at a press conference, adding that there is no danger at the moment.

Representatives, according to Norris, believe that the fire was intentionally established, and did not provide any details about the attacker’s identity.

During the shooting, two firefighters died and others suffered injuries and rescuers took him to the hospital, where he had to undergo surgery. “He is fighting for life, but is in a stabilized state,” Norris said. He added that representatives will not provide data on killed firefighters.

The fire has not yet been extinguished.

AFP reports that violence against firearms is common in the United States. In many countries, there are few obstacles for the purchase of firearms, despite the general support of weapons. Gun Violence Archive (GVA) has been registered in the US for this year’s 189 cases of mass shooting.
