Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to conquer the whole Ukraine, according to German Minister of Foreign Affairs Johann Wadephul. Wadephul said this during Monday’s visit to Kiev, TASR writes based on AFP report.
“Putin wants to conquer all Ukraine while spreading fear across Europe,” The Minister said, saying that Putin’s “alleged willingness to negotiate is just outward”. The head of the German diplomacy in Kiev during a visit to one of the Russian attacks said that Berlin earmarked another two billion euros to buy air defense and ammunition.
Wadephul performed at a press conference together with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybih. He accused Russia of intensifying air strikes in order to “promote panic and influence the mood of the population”. “To prevent this, the crucial are undoubtedly air defense systems. We are grateful to our German friends for their unprecedented help in strengthening our air defense,” added Sybiha.
Wadephul, together with representatives of the German defense industry, will also meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “We want to create new businesses so that Ukraine can produce faster and more for our own defense because your needs are huge,” He added the head of German diplomacy.
Kiev and its allies accuse Russia of sabotaging diplomatic efforts, that have been stuck in the dead point in the last few weeks despite the wish of US President Donald Trump to reach a quick peace agreement.
