Authorities found five human heads in a plastic bag in the same place; region has been shaken by a wave of violence linked to internal disputes within the state cartel
The bodies of 20 men, five of them beheaded, were found on a road bridge in the state of, in the northwest, the local prosecutor said on Monday (30). Four “beheaded” bodies were in sight of everyone on the bridge, while the remaining 16, one of them also headless, were found in a pickup truck, said the state prosecutors, who has been shaken by a wave of violence linked to internal disputes inside the Sinalo cartel. The authorities found five human heads in a plastic bag in the same place. All bodies also presented “signs of bullet injuries”, according to the prosecutor’s report. Some local media reported that four of the beheaded bodies were hanging from the bridge by the legs.
Since the early hours of the morning, images of hanging bodies have been circulating on social networks, although authorities have not confirmed their authenticity. According to images from local television, prosecutors removed the bodies in the morning and transported them to the forensic medical service in official vehicles. The road where the bodies were found leads to Culiacán, the capital of Sinaloa and epicenter of disputes between factions of the powerful local cartel.
According to official numbers, the conflict between the criminal gangs left more than 1,200 dead and about 1,400 missing. The faction of Joaquin’s children “Chapo” Guzmán, who is serving time for life imprisonment in the United States, is in conflict with that of Ishmael “Mayo” Zambada, another of the founders of the criminal gang facing trial in a New York Court. The dispute was triggered after Zambada was taken in July 2024 to the United States, where he was arrested aboard a plane by one of the sons of Guzmán.
