Greeding is asking Berlin for other air defense systems. German Minister Wadephul suggests the extension of the cooperation of the arms industry with Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Genskyj on Monday after negotiations with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadphul, Berlin asked to deliver other IRIS-T air defense systems to more effectively reflect Russian drone and missile attacks. According to the DPA report, TASR reports this.
During his first visit to Kiev since he took office, Wadephul has been to look at one of the IRIS-T systems that Ukrainians are already using. Until April this year, Germany provided Ukraine with six such systems and promised a delivery of ten more.
New possibilities of cooperation
The head of German diplomacy on a foreign journey was also accompanied by representatives of armament companies. Greeding at the negotiations with Wadephul expressed interest in extending defense cooperation between the two countries. He mentioned that around 20 new business partnerships could be concluded in the coming days, but did not provide any details.
Wadephul highlighted the already ongoing cooperation between German armament companies and Ukraine and described the possibility of deepening it as a prize for both parties. “We learn from it. Both sides benefit from it and prove that our security is interconnected and we can profit from it economically. This is a good thing and we want to expand it overall,” the minister added.
