The defense of the former president (PL) filed on Monday (30), a request to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) for the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) to speak before the deadline of the allegations in the process investigating the attempted coup. The reason is the existence of an Instagram profile, attributed to the lieutenant colonel, which was allegedly used to communicate clandestinely on its award-winning denunciation.
The profile in question, identified as @Gabrielar702, would be Cid’s wife, Gabriela Cid. However, according to information provided by companies such as Meta and Google, the email address linked to the account-maurocid@gmail.com-was created on January 3, 2005, using the same date of birth as the military: May 17, 1979. The Instagram account would have been created on January 19, 2024, months after the approval of CID award-winning collaboration.
For lawyer Celso Sanchez Vilardi, who represents Bolsonaro, the data confirm that Mauro Cid himself would be responsible for the creation and operation of the profile. If the suspicion is confirmed, the misuse of the account could compromise the benefits obtained to the denunciation agreement, as ICD is prohibited in court from using social networks.
“It is essential to bring to the present time the documents produced in parallel, because they relate directly to the facts cleared here,” argues Vilardi. He formally requested the attachment of the information to the file and the notification of the PGR to position himself before the submission of the final allegations.
The movement occurs while Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case in the Supreme Court, established 15 days for the PGR to present its opinion. The Attorney’s Office may request the conviction or acquittal of the seven defendants of the so -called core 1, the group considered central in the alleged articulation of the coup. Among them are Bolsonaro and Cid himself. Another defendant in the lawsuit, former advisor Marcelo Câmara, also filed the STF Prints and audios that would have been exchanged with ICD through the investigated profile.
In messages, Cid would doubt his own statements to the courts. The defense of the military vehemently denies the use of the account and states that he is unaware of his existence, although he recognizes the similarity between the name of the profile and his wife’s. The case adds another tension element to a process that approaches decisive moments, with possible impact on the allegations and legal strategies of the main accused.
