Donald Trump predicts a ceasefire in Gaza before visiting Israeli Prime Minister in the US. The conflict of Israel with Hamas will be the central point of the meeting.
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that “sometime next week” Israel could close a ceasefire with the Palestinian militant Hamas movement and end the fighting in the Gaza Strip. According to AFP and Times of Israel, TASR reports this.
Journalists asked the White House chief whether the ceasefire could be closed before the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the US, scheduled for 7 July. “We hope this will happen and we expect it to happen sometime next week,” Trump replied when leaving Washington to Florida.
The US President reported that he would negotiate with Netanyahu in particular about the situation in the Gaza and Iran band. It will be the third visit to the Israeli Prime Minister in the White House since the arrival of Trump in January.
According to AFP, the rapid termination of the 12-day Iranian-Israeli conflict revived hope to stop the fighting in the Gaza Strip, where more than 20 months of war caused a humanitarian disaster. Trump has already publicly indicated that he wants to focus his attention on the end of the fighting between Israel and Hamas.
