Former governor of SP praised the mayor during a meeting that brought together politicians after tensions between Congress and Lula government
Former Sao Paulo governor João Doria called the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), “Hero do Brasil” During a private dinner held on Monday (30.jun.2025) at his home in the Jardim Europa neighborhood, in São Paulo. The meeting, which brought together about 50 businessmen, started around 8 pm.
“Throughout this week there was a crucial movement for the country’s life, led by Hugo Motta. He defended a principle that serves all Brazil. He put himself and convinced his colleagues from the House and Senate that the decision made was not against President Lula, but a decision in favor of Brazil.said Doria.
The dinner was marked after the growing friction between the National Congress and the government of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT). In addition to Motta and Doria, the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro (PL), the deputy governor of Sao Paulo, Felicio Ramuth (PSD) and the mayor of Sao Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), participated in the dinner.
The wear and tear in the relationship between the Legislature and the Planalto increased after the publication of Provisional Measure 1,303, signed on June 11. The document established an increase in taxes to compensate for the loss of revenue resulting from the federal government’s decision to retreat in the increase in IOF.
Motta has already indicated that he does not intend to put the MP text in voting before the parliamentary recess, which starts on July 17. The proceeding of the measure should be resumed only in August, when legislative activities return.
“This is a pluripartisan conversation, much more of listening so that we can build the best for the country. We have had a lot of synergy with the [Davi] Alcolumbre, chamber and Senate have never been so well, with respect, trying to converge. This dialogue also occurs with the Executive and Judiciary, with whom we have a good relationship, so that there can be harmony between the powers in favor of the country ”, answered Motta.
