Indonesian police began an investigation to find out if there was negligence in the death of Brazilian Juliana Marins, who fell from a cliff on Mount Rinjani on June 20. The information was confirmed on Tuesday (1st) by the subregional police of East Lombok, by the official news portal of the corporation of Nusa Tenggara Barat.

“We have heard several witnesses, including the trail organizer, the guide, the charger and forest police,” said senior assistant inspector I Made Dharma Yulia Putra.

Four people have already given testimony: a trail organizer, the guide responsible for the journey, a porter who helped rescue and a forest police officer.

Together with representatives of the Brazilian Embassy, ​​local authorities conducted an inspection in the area of ​​Rinjani National Park. The park boss, Lidya Saputro, said the trail security protocols are being reevaluated as part of the investigation.

Juliana made a trail in the volcano region when she fell into a canyon. The rescue was hampered by dense fog and rugged terrain, and his body was only recovered four days after the accident on June 25.

Body returns to Brazil

Juliana’s body boarded this Tuesday (1st) to Brazil. According to Emirates Airlines, the route will be Indonesia-Dubai-São Paulo, arriving in Rio de Janeiro scheduled for Wednesday (2). The funeral and burial will occur in Niterói, not yet confirmed.
