German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul calls on the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense. During his visit he treated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greeny to extend defense cooperation between the two countries
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul promised on Tuesday during his visit to Ukrainian Odessa that he would urgently insist on the allies to provide additional air defense systems. A visit to Wadphula in the Black Sea port in the south of Ukraine was classified until it traveled to neighboring Moldova, TASR writes according to DPA.
WadePhul will push the office and Minister of Defense
He was accompanied by a small delegation and his Ukrainian departmental partner Andriy Sybiha on his way to Odessa. They did not inform the visit for security reasons, as Odessa is a frequent target of Russian drone and missile attacks.
Wadephul promised to push Friedrich Merz’s office to the Minister of Defense Boris Pistoria to invite the Allies for larger supplies of air defense systems to reflect Moscow attacks. The head of German diplomacy stressed the need to appeal to the United States to continue to support the defense of Kiev.
Wadephul warns that Ukraine can reach the boundaries of its defensive capacity
It is necessary to focus on providing everything possible in the field of air defense, “said Wadephul, picking up systems that could be installed on Ukrainian ships to protect naval routes. According to him, Ukraine could reach the boundaries of its defense capacities, “therefore preventive measures must now be taken”.
Wadephul has arrived on his first official visit to Ukraine since May’s start on Monday. In Kiev was to look at the German system of air defense Iris-T. By April this year, Berlin provided six such systems and promised another ten. Wadephul negotiated with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenský with the extension of defense cooperation between the two countries. Wadphula in Kiev was also accompanied by representatives of German armory companies.
