The MEC (Ministry of Education) launched, this Monday (30), the “National Commitment All Mathematics ”. The objective of the program is develop actions to ensure quality education and improve students’ academic performance in the discipline.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, during the National Awards Ceremony of the 19th OBMEP (Brazilian Public School Mathematics Olympics). The event, which took place in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), brought together 683 students from all Brazilian and DF states to receive the gold medal of scientific competition.
“Just as we launched the national commitment of literate children, with goals established with states and municipalities, we are launching the ‘all mathematics commitment’ to technically and financially support the basic education networks for mathematics,” said Santana.
According to the Minister of Education, the federal government’s initiative intends to reduce regional inequalities, Consolidating the discipline as the decree of creation of the program will be signed by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
